this is not a food blog

but today’s post is about the wonders of convenience food. found in the gleaming treasure aisles of the supermarket, and one yakitori pushcart. (on a sidenote, i wonder why all my posts these days are about food even though there are other pictures begging to be released. not that i’m feeling particularly greedy. well, i guess food is always photogenic.)

lunch yesterday was pre-packed salad, accompanied by ebi tempura freshly fried by the supermarket. add to rice and miso soup on the side and here we have a presentable ten-don set meal!

for dinner i ventured bravely towards the yakitori stand after purchasing cold soba and sweet tamago (very specific craving!), again from the supermart. with no command of japanese, i had to snap a picture of the item i wanted and stick one finger in the air to signal my order. waited about thirty minutes i reckon – most of it in the cold, but it was worth it!

so here’s dinner all wrapped up.. (i forgot to hand the order chit back to the yakitori seller)

..and its smile before it’s eaten.
